I recently went to read a local ABC news affiliate’s story about a missing Patriots team member and while reading the story was treated to the appearance of a screaming upper torso overlaid on the text and telling me to visit some nutjob’s car dealership:

A little investigation showed that this particular intrusion was the work of this company whose slogan should probably be “bringing web advertisers screaming into your office.”
I say get them out, and here’s how:
1. Use Firefox
2. Install the Adblock extension
3. Restart and click the little Adblock icon at the bottom and block all content from *.rovion.com
I did this and it was hysterical how as soon as I hit enter, the little screaming man disappeared as if by magic.
Now the downside, of course, is that you can no longer surf over to see how your friends at www.rovion.com are doing, but do you care?
Occasionally I end up surfing the web on a computer without Firefox and my (simple) Adblock set-up and I’m blown away by how unbelievably annoying the web is with crazy flashing advertisements all over. It makes me believe that this may already be here.
