Since I posted about this recently, I thought that I’d post a follow-up. I added the search terms “autism thimerosal” years ago to an automated system run by the National Library of Medicine which e-mails me monthly updates on new published results regarding those keywords. Since it’s October 1st, I just got an update.
A recent study of over 1000 kids aged 7 to 10 who were given thimerosal-containing vaccines showed only weak relationships between the compound and 42 different neurological measures. The relationships showed equal support for conclusions that Thimerosal helped the children as for that it hurt the children and no strong conclusions at all. What should you make of that? The same thing that the scientists did: it’s still just statistical noise and there’s nothing there.
