C|Net and others are reporting on a bill introduced in Congress re-authorizing Federal student financial aid for the upcoming year but requiring colleges to police students’ online behavior or risk losing their Federal funding entirely.
Let me put this into context. The entertainment lobby is so powerful in the U.S. that they’ve convinced lawmakers that their profits are a top priority, much more so than education.
Truly amazing. If kids steal music, Congress will take education away from the poor. Because ruining someone’s life is a fair and reasonable punishment for downloading MP3s.
