Oh Superman, where are you now?
Some more bad news about the unraveling of the U.S. economy:
Bear Stearns gambles billions of your money, loses, and your tax dollars bail them out. A friend in finance was kind enough to point out that while the headlines read that the U.S. government was taking steps not seen since the Great Depression, that headline couldn’t be seen in U.S. papers. Phil Greenspun had a post which would be funny, were it not so sad.
The price of wheat which “historically trades at $3 to $7 a bushel” is projected to reach $18 in the spring.
The dollar falls to a new low as more and more countries worry about the health of our economy (and invest elsewhere).
